Help Us To Make The Best Games
Written by Rob Cooper

As you know, we at Osiris Games are committed to making the best games we possibly can. The titles we release are freeware, meaning they come at absolutely no cost to you whatsoever. We make games purely for the love of doing it and the satisfaction that we've created something which other people around the globe are getting enjoyment from. However, in doing so we inevitably incur costs - our webspace and web address cost money, we also spend money on buying books and software to help make our games the best around.

For the first time you guys can now show your appreciation for our efforts. If you like our games and want to help us to continue making the best titles we possibly can you can now make a donation. Donating as little as $5 to $10 (£3 - £6) would make an enormous difference to the amount of time we could dedicate to making our games as well as allow us to buy the tools we need. The site also has an adbar supplied by google which we make money from, taking a few moments to read and click any adverts you may be interested in is another great way to help us out.

We also have a number of affiliate deals with companies (you'll see these both in the sidebar and across the bottom of the page) from which we receive a comission on any sales - despite the huge amount of casinos, viagra salespeople etc offering us large amounts of cash to advertise we made the decision to only deal with companies who we had bought products from in the past and been pleased with - these guys sell some really amazing stuff and of course following our links and buying from them means you not only get a great product but you are also actively investing in the future of Osiris Games, something we can't express how much we appreciate.

As well as the guys advertising via our banners you'll also notice our new online store - if you fancy something a bit different buying one of our products is another great way to help us out, I can tell you from personal experience that the mug has a handle big enough to get all your fingers into and it can survive being dropped on a stone floor! The t-shirt is also amazing quality - impressive stuff.

Finally of course, don't forget, if you like our games tell your friends - the more active the community is the more suggestions we get and the better our games become!

Oh, and before I finish this lengthy thread let me say a huge thank you to the guys who have donated already - your support is hugely appreciated, once we think of a fitting way to say thanks we'll let you know!

Osiris Games - Where Do We Go From Here?

Ok, well all of the latest news surrounding Osiris Games is likely to be a little overwhelming for at least some of you. I want everyone to be clear on what to expect from us in the coming months, because of that I have written this document to allow exactly that, read on and be enlightened...

The first game released will most likely be Chart Wars 3, written by myself. Once done I will be dividing my time up somewhat. Allow me to explain, i'll of course be working on bug fixes and enhancements for CW3. I'll also begin work on CW4 (yes that's the first time it has been mentioned folks!) I'm happy with the capabilities Visual Basic currently offers me and the game will also be written in Vb. The game will build on CW3 rather than being a complete rewrite, something which will drastically resuce development time - good news all round then.

I will also however, be working on a different game. A sort of Chart Wars spinoff if you will, it is a music sim and will almost certainly bear the Chart Wars name but it will be a very seperate game - more information to come on that, watch this space!

The final two things I will be doing with my time are unrelated to programming but are nonetheless vital to the continued growth and development of Osiris Games. I will be continuing my search for great games and gifted programmers - If you have a game and would be interested in joining the team check out the Osiris Games are hiring news item. Even if we don't invite you to join the team the very least we will do is help with technical problems etc and we will also do our best to spread the word about your game when the release date arrives.

Finally, I will be attempting to get a publishing deal for Osiris Games. Although we have been approached by publishers in the past we are only willing to do business with a publisher who represents the interests of the most important people - YOU. We are ambitious people, we want to make the best games we possibly can and we want as many people as possible to play them. Also, as many of you know I am close to finishing my university course and Nino has recently had a baby, forcing us both to re-assess our finances. However, we will never consider a deal that we don't feel is the best deal for you guys, after all the support you'vbe given over the year it would be an insult if we handled things any other way and so there is no deal yet. Anyway, we will of course keep you posted on future developments as and when anything happens.

Now, while i'm busy with the above Nino will of course be busy himself. Although I must stress due to his recent step into parenthood I haven't had much chance to discuss this with him I anticipate in the short tem Nino will spend the bulk of his time applying the finishing touches to GameBiz. Once released he will likely split his time between imporving, enhancing and patching the first game and working on a sequel. More news on this though following discussions between the two of us.

So there you have it, the future of Osiris Games in a nutshell-ish, of course none of this is set in stone but this is how I anticipate things will develop. I hope this has answered any questions/confusion you may have, however we can always be found on the messageboard or via email (check out the 'The Team' section) if you still have questions.

Finally Osiris Games has a real home! No longer confined to invisionfree (although you can of course still access the board via the link on the main menu.) The site is still very much in development and so your feedback and ideas at this stage are extremely valuable, by the time you read this there should be a feedback forum on the board, and of course you can always mail me at my new email address   either through your own mail client or via the form at the bottom of my contact details page (select 'The Team' from the main menu.)

Ok, I anticipate from now on that most of my major updates will take place here rather than on the board - but for all you purists I will likely post a link to any important ones on the board too! So without further ado let's get on to some HUGE news...

As if a new website wasn't exciting enough I am extremely pleased to announce that Osiris Games is expanding beyond the confines of Chart Wars, i've been on the lookout for talented freeware programmers for some time and have finally found the first guy who has all the qualities I feel necessary to become a great team member. I approached Nino Arndt about joining Osiris Games a shot while back and i'm delighted to announce he accepted, both Nino and his game game industry simulation GameBiz are joining the Osiris Games family immediately.

Most of you already know Nino i'm sure but for those of you who don't let me tell you straight away that this guy is an excellent programmer with all the determination and attention to detail necessary to make great games, i'm really looking forward to working with him and i'm really looking forward to seeing the games we can produce for you guys.

Ok, after all that there may well be a few things you guys aren't clear on so please take the time to check out the news section (use the menubar on the left) where you will find a number of articles which should help clear up any questions you may have. Content is a little thin at present but we will be frequently adding more stuff so keep checking back!

More information about Nino can be found in his contact details in the 'The Team' section
